Find out more about the crime of ecocide – from the international campaign to how the law could change in Scotland.
Why you should know about ecocide
Criminalising mass destruction of nature has been gaining traction across the world. This crime is called ecocide.
After 10 years of international campaigning, started by the late Scottish barrister Polly Higgins, the first step to create an ecocide law in Scotland has been now taken. In November 2023, Monica Lennon MSP opened a public consultation on proposing the criminalisation of ecocide in Scots law.
This law could make it possible to punish the worst polluters.
This info webinar will bring you up to speed with the latest developments in Scotland, and look into the possibilities and challenges ahead.
