We warmly invite you to the launch of our Call to Action and Advocacy Manifesto: A right to a healthy environment that works.
Wednesday 8 December 1 – 1:45pm (online, free)
Now more than ever we need a human right to a healthy environment to tackle the climate and nature emergencies.
About this event
The Scottish Government has committed to including a human right to a healthy environment in a new Human Rights (Scotland) Bill. Our job now is to make sure that it works in practice. This means our rights need to be enforceable in a court of law.
Hear about the legal reforms that are needed and support the launch of our online petition.
Guest speakers
Mhairi Snowden, Human Rights Consortium Scotland and Clare Symonds, Planning Democracy.
Programme
• Welcome – Dr Shivali Fifield, ERCS Chief Officer
• Why environmental rights matter for all human rights – Mhairi Snowden, Human Rights Consortium Scotland Director
• Why it’s so hard for us to use the law to protect the environment and our health – Clare Symonds, ERCS Trustee and Director of Planning Democracy
