Are you passionate about protecting the environment, and committed to advancing environmental rights? We’re recruiting an Advocacy Officer to secure concrete progress on environmental rights in Scotland.

At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic, climate and biodiversity crises highlight the essential role of environmental rights in upholding all human rights, this is a unique and exciting opportunity to influence the incorporation of the human right to a healthy environment in the Human Rights (Scotland) Bill, and the reforms needed to enforce it.

ERCS’s vision is of a Scotland where every person’s right to live in a healthy environment is fully realised. As our Advocacy Officer, you will be committed to environmental justice and reducing the barriers to access to justice on the environment.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in advocacy or campaigning, and a good knowledge of environmental policy and law, preferably in the Scottish context. You will be a strategic thinker, an excellent communicator, self-motivated with a naturally collaborative working style; and will thrive in a small, creative team.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from women, disabled, and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, and individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

For informal enquiries contact Shivali Fifield, Chief Officer at sfifield@ercs.scot.
