In May 2026, the Environmental Justice Network spoke at the Congress of Nations and States: ‘Mass atrocities, environmental degradation and communities’ rights conference’, hosted by the University of Dundee and the University of Stirling.
The conference brought together representatives from Indigenous peoples, minority groups, and other communities from across the globe who have faced environmental degradation.
A performance of lived experience
The Environmental Justice Network have often spoken about their struggles in defending our environmental rights, the similar barriers they have faced and the need for a fairer system.
Instead of only talking about their lived experience, Kathleen Edie, Doreen Goldie and Mark Ollis wanted to convey their journeys and emotions, and how it is not as simple as it should be to seek environmental justice in a country that has seemingly robust environmental laws and regulations.
